PPW Motorcars is pleased to offer this beautiful 1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL, which was exquisitely ordered in Lapis Blue (932G) and wears it as a 0 mile bare metal repaint with a beautiful and Brand New Top Quality German Canvas GAHH Blue soft top over a powdery, supple, stunning and brand new Parchment Interior from GAHH, complete with refinished wood! Being one of a few produced world-wide in 1980 and the only one we have come across in Lapis Blue over Parchment interior, it is our opinion that this is the best possible combination that could have rolled off the factory floor! As gentleman’s car, this is one of the few that was ordered in classic, rare, and elegant colors. The stunning and timeless colors are both period correct and still fashionable today whether it be a trip to the country club or long drive to the country home.
What makes this vehicle truly worth owning is the level of detail and hand assembled craftsmanship that is present in no automobile currently produced. This magnificent motorcar was produced in an era when owning a Mercedes-Benz meant something significant. There was no such thing as a 9 a month lease on a new C-Class; ownership was reserved for just a select few. This vehicle was one of the most expensive and best overall vehicles available during its time; it combined the road holding ability of a sports car with the opulent appointments of the finest luxury cars. This was a vehicle for the most discerning individual to whom sacrificing any virtue of the vehicle for the sake of another was unacceptable.
Now to the thing everyone is here for, the Toyota Supra Engine and Transmission Swap! Starting out, this vehicle had a very heavy 4.5L Iron Block V8, that actually bent the engine hoist when being removed. The later build 450SL’s also had massively restrictive emissions systems that chocked horsepower down to a measly 160HP and also lost the vintage touches and charm the first two years had. The builder of this car wanted to reverse both of those to make the ultimate in ‘fun to drive’ and vintage feel/looks. To start, it began as a solid rust free California car and has an underside that is nothing short of excellent. Then the conversion happened and it is as exciting as it sounds! With the turn of the key the 1JZ turbocharged engine comes to life and you know you are in for a special experience. Driving it can be calm and as enjoyable as any classic Mercedes should be but once you put your foot into it you hear an overwhelming spooling sound of the turbo and intake noise that few to no other engines can rival followed by a massive surge of power! This is about as exciting as it gets, period. To make sure that the rest of the car was up to the task of this massive power, the engine mounts, subframe bushings, suspension bushings, ball joints, and beyond are all zero mile fresh! Further, to ensure that this vehicle is ready to be enjoyed today it just underwent a large service and is ready to be enjoyed today! During the service we changed the oil/filter, spark plugs, air filter, installed new tires, belts, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, many suspension bushings, valve cover gaskets, and Much More. More so, the cosmetic condition of this car is above reproach. From the zero mile bare metal repaint in the original and most desirable color of Lapis Blue, to the trim (which was replaced with the repaint), to the brand new german canvas GAHH soft top, soft top seals, all body seals, along with a brand new GAHH interior right down to smaller details like the refinished wood and original radio. General Terms
1.
Deposit-
A ,000 deposit must made by the purchaser within 24 hours of the auctions close. Deposits can be made by PayPal or by calling (618)791-4020 during hours of business. Buyer agrees to fund remaining balance due within 3 business days of the close of auction. If the car is not as represented upon your personal inspection here in St. Louis, your deposit will be promptly refunded.
2.
Payment-
Certified Check, Cashier Check, Personal Check (must clear bank before delivery), or Wire Transfer. The vehicle must be paid in full before the buyer takes delivery or ships the vehicle. International  Buyers: Please be aware that you will be responsible for the Federal Reserve fee(s) charged for all incoming wires.
3.
Tax and Title-
Missouri residents are responsible for taxes, licensing, and plate fees in your county as assessed by the state. All other purchasers are responsible for title, tax, and other fee's as are assessed in their area.
4.
Trades-
Trade-in vehicles are accepted and encouraged. All trade-ins must be delivered to our facility before taking delivery of your purchase and the buyer is responsible for all transportation charges.
5.
Purchasers Inspection-
We have made every effort to accurately describe this vehicle and disclose any information known. We welcome and recommend a buyer's inspection. Buyer is responsible for inspection fees.
6.
Contingencies-
To non-eBay purchasers, anyone with a deposit but the sale is contingent on financing, 3rd party inspection, or any other contingency, the vehicle will not be held and is subject to be sold at any time, until all contingencies are removed and confirmation has been given in the form of a signed purchase agreement.
7.
Shipping-
The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. If you have questions about shipping your purchase or trade-in please contact us and we will happily assist you in locating a company that can facilitate the transportation. We assume no responsibility for damage that occurs while in transport.
8.
Administrative Fee-
The only fee associated with the sale is a 5 administrative fee which is charged to ALL retail customers and covers title transfer, holding costs, vehicle preparation, and overnight documentation delivery (where applicable).
